The programme Webinar Series on Book Nook: Words and Worlds organised by Centre for Research and Development, IQAC and Library Readers Forum, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor in collaboration with the Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin (AIRIO) and Council of Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF), Tamilnadu and Kerala Chapters was conducted on October 07th, 2023 at 7.00 PM through the online platform of Google meet. The programme was anchored by Saritha. C. Babu, Full Time Research Scholar, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor. She welcomed Dr.S Sreelatha, Principal, NVKSD College of Education, Attoor to welcome all the chief guests and resource person of the programme Dr Geetha Janet Vitus, Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Kerala. Then followed by the Principal, Prof.Dr.K.Rajeswari, Head, Centre for Research and Development, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor, gave a brief talk about the programme. She informed that Book Nook is not only a book review programme but is also a programme which informs us the powers of various authors and their way of initiating the power of reading within us. She gave the objective of this programme, as for book lovers to develop a loving attitude towards book. On reviewing this book she invites all the audience to reflect their insights throughout the programme. She also informed that the title of this programme Book Nook:
Words and Worlds was given by the research Scholar of N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor who is also working as Assistant Professor of English in Ayyappa College of Education, Chunkankadai, Dr. Janatha Kumari and she thanked Janatha madam for her wonderful and apt suggestion. Next Inaugural Address was given by HE Most Rev Dr Joseph Mar Thomas, Bishop of Sulthan Bethery, Malankara Syrian Catholic Dharma Peedam, Sulthan Bethery, Wayanad, Global President, AIRIO. He congratulated all the faculties of N.V.K.S.D College of Education, Attoor and also all the members of AIRIO and CTEF, Kerala and Tamilnadu Chapters. He says that book review is the critical analysis of a book for the purpose of helping others to decide whether they should read the particular book or not, analysing the positive and negative components of the book, analysing the strength and weakness of the book and to discuss on major ideas and characters. So the readers will receive an idea whether they can read and enjoy the proper book. So the readers will receive the aim of book. Next to Bishop, Presidential Address was given by Dr R.Mukundan, President, AIRIO Tamilnadu Chapter. He congratulated every person who took initiatives to make this programme working successfully. He also added that Dr Geetha Janet Vitus is the correct person to review the book Inclusive Education Strategies: A Text Book as she is a great educationist and researcher in the field of Special Education. He added that the resource person will enlighten the participants here. He reminded Dr Maria Montessori who was an educationist as well as a physician
for all children with no exception about special children. He concluded by informing the initiatives taken through National Education Policy for inclusive Education. Then comes the turn of the resource person Dr. Geetha Janet Vitus, to deliver review about the book Inclusive Education Strategies: A Textbook. She told that this book might had been very useful for delivering her earlier talks on Inclusive education strategies conducted at various school if she had find this book earlier. The book has 244 pages without acknowledgement which includes 15 chapters. The book was compiled of the works of various authors who are experts in inclusive education. The book was found to be easily readable as the contents are neatly arranged. She often heard school teachers saying that they need more novel new methods to increase student’s inclusion in school. This book is made with the contribution of UNICEf and Armania University, University of Minnesota. UNICEF funded this Contribution. Situation in Armania on inclusive learning is discussed in Chapter 1. It discuses about special children turning into youth and their needs. According to UNICEF, if all children are included in the classroom then it is inclusive class room. Every classroom should have a support teacher to handle special child. But it’s lacking everywhere so a teacher is finding difficulty to handle these children. In this book it’s given how the family can support these children to learn in school. Every chapter is given by experts after proper experimentation. Concluding chapter deals with all strategies followed in all chapters. In chapter 2 it deals with universal design of learning. As students’
needs are diverse so a design should be found which should be a universal design for inclusive learning. This design is planned to give accessibility for every child with or without disability. It’s concluded by some tips for teachers. Beautiful glossary is at the end of each chapter. She also discusses briefly the third chapter. Towards the last part more reflective questions are found. Strategies given here will create a concrete success as all the tips given here are all on evidence based. She concluded by suggesting this book for all teacher Educators to handle the classes effectively. Felicitation Address was given by Prof.Dr Rajeswari.K, Head, Centre for Research and Development, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor. As concluding remarks Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof Giby Gee Varghese, Global Treasurer, AIRIO .

The programme was anchored by Merlin Malar. N, Full Time Research Scholar, N.V.K.S.D.College of Education, Attoor. The programme started with a silent prayer. Then Dr. B. Bindu, Executive Member of the Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin (AIRIO)National Chapter and Professor of Mar Theophilus Training College, Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala welcomed the chief guest and resource person of the programme Dr. Grace Annie Mathews, Former Principal of Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara. After that, she invites the audience to reflect their insights throughout the programme.The resource person Dr. Grace Annie Mathews delivers a review of the book LeadershipModels in Education – Vision for Future. She said that this book might have been very useful for enhancing the quality of leadership. The book concentrated on the National Education Policy 2020 and it included 6 chapters. The book was compiled of the 40 various leaders’ personalities who are education experts. The book was found to be easily readable as the contents were neatly arranged.
The First Chapter is Introduction. In this Chapter, the author mainly focused on the NEP 2020. The education must be ethical and social, it should create a good leader. A good leader is the response for creates a good citizen.
Chapter 2 deals with Theories of Management and Leadership. This chapter is divided into two parts. The first part explains about Leadership Model and it
includes the formal model, collegial model, political model, subjective model, transactional model, management model, cultural model, post model and ambiguities model in this chapter. The second part is Theories of Leadership. The speaker discussed William’s Theory, Greatman’s theory, Lewin’s Behavioural theory, Condition or Situation theory and Martin and Robert’s theory.
Chapter 3 deals with Leadership Types. There are Transformational Leadership and transactional Leadership. Educational Leadership Teacher Leadership, Empowered Leadership, Sacrifice Leadership and Shepherd Leadership.Chapter 4 deals with Leadership models in Education. In this chapter, the author gives clear information about the personality, quality and contribution of the 40 leaders.
Chapter 5 deals with Futuristic Vision in Leadership. The author gives clear knowledge about the qualities of Leadership and she discusses the mindset and skills. The last chapter is the conclusion.
The chapter ended with a prayer. Towards the last part, more reflective questions are found. As a concluding reflection of the presentation and remarks Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. K. Gireesh Kumar, AIRIO secretary assistant Professor of N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor.

Then Dr Rakesh Sharma R, Assistant Professor, welcomed the resource person, dignitaries and participants. The resource person of the programme is Dr.V Reghu, Former Dean and Controller of Examinations
RGNIYD Govt. Of India , Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu .The resource person Dr. V Reghu delivers a review of the book Life Skills Education. It was published in 2016. The book was written by Dr. K. Ravikanth Rao, Dr. P. Dinakar . The book comprises of Life skill Education. A skill is a learned ability or capacity which helps us to do a task in an effective manner. It is an ability which needs regular practice and more often usage. They need to be acquired with a lot of patience and positive attitude. A skilled person uses less time, energy and resources to do a job and produces quality results. There are different kinds of skills like literary, language, functional, vocational, sports, cultural, recreation and life skills. Life skills are needed to every human beings to realize their full potential, and to handle problems and questions commonly encountered in day to day life. They help the individuals to become a well-adjusted and well-developed individual. It helps to improve communication skills and develops a dynamic self-image and
great self-esteem. Life skills include psychosocial abilities and interpersonal skills that help people take decisions, solve problems, think critically, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with the stress and strain of life in a healthy and productive manner. Then Mrs. Bindu Gouri V .P, Assistant Professor of NVKSD College of Education, delivered the reflection of the presentation. Dr. Neena Thomas, assistant professor of Mar Theophilus Training College and executive member of AIRIO (Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin), made a concluding statement and offered a vote of gratitude.

The programme Webinar Series on Book Nook: Words and Worlds organised by Centre for Research and Development, IQAC and Library Readers Forum, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor in collaboration with Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin (AIRIO) and Council of Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF), Tamilnadu and Kerala Chapters was conducted on November 25th, 2023 at 7.30 PM through the online platform of Google meet. The programme was anchored by Nisha M S, Full Time Research Scholar, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor. She welcomed Dr. P Sheela, Librarian, NVKSD College of Education, Attoor to welcome all the chief guests and resource person of the programme Dr K Y Benedict, Principal, Mother Teresa College of Education, Kozhikode and also the Chairman CTEF (South Zone). Then comes the turn of the resource person to deliver review about the book Research Design – Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed method Approaches by John W Creswell and J David Creswell -6th Edition. He started explaining using PowerPoint slides, The book Research Design: Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed Methods Approaches which covers three approaches— qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods. He explained that this educational book is informative and illustrative and is equally beneficial for students, teachers and researchers. There are two parts of the book – Part I consists of steps for developing research proposal and Part II explains how to develop a research proposal or write a research report. A summary is given at the end of every chapter that helps the reader to recapitulate the ideas. Moreover, writing exercises and suggested readings at the end of every chapter are useful for the readers. Chapter 1 opens with definition of research approaches and the author gives his opinion that selection of a research approach is based on the nature of the research problem, researchers’ experience and the audience of the study. The author
defines qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research. A distinction is made between quantitative and qualitative research approaches. Chapter 2 is about the review of the literature. The chapter starts with the identification of the research topic and argues that literature review has central position in research. The author suggests where to place literature review in a study. This chapter is a good guide for novice researchers as it suggests how to review literature, locate a research study in existing body of literature and find a gap in previous research. Chapter 3 gives a complete definition of ‘theory’ and its use and forms in quantitative research. The chapter explicitly deals with the use of theory in quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods and transformative worldviews or paradigms. Chapter 4 deals with the ethical issues, the structure of a proposal and writing strategies. Different formats for writing a research proposal are presented in detail. Ethical issues in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research are explained in detail. A short summary at the end of the chapter well elaborates key suggestions for writing a research proposal. Chapter 5 highlights the importance of writing an introduction to a proposal and suggests how an abstract is written in a research study. The five components of an introduction are all that a new researcher needs to start with. The chapter also suggests how a research problem is written and gap can be found in the previous studies. The gap, termed as ‘deficiencies in the literature’ has been illustrated with examples. The chapter also highlights the significance of introduction in a quantitative study. Chapter 6 advocates the importance of purpose statement and its place in a journal or a dissertation. Some basic features of purpose statements in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research are underlined. The language used in this chapter is easy to comprehend. Chapter 7 discusses research questions and hypotheses. It explains how research questions are designed in a quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research. Chapter 8 deals with quantitative methods. The chapter
focuses on fundamental steps in a survey or an experiment in a quantitative research proposal. A checklist of questions has been provided for readers for designing a survey and an experimental research. Survey designs and experimental designs have been discussed in detail with a brief explanation of population and sample selection. A detailed description of a survey and an experimental study is given with some suggestions of how to use the needed instrument. Chapter 9 discusses qualitative methods. The characteristics of qualitative research are given in detail. The author suggests some tips of a qualitative research design and explains the researcher’s role in it. Chapter 10 deals with mixed methods approach. Mixed methods approach is described in detail and types of mixed methods research designs are illustrated with figures in brief. Convergent parallel mixed methods design, explanatory sequential mixed methods design, exploratory sequential mixed methods design and transformative designs have been explained with examples. The reflections of the presentations were given in detail by Dr Deepa R P, Assistant Professor in Education, NVKSD College of Education, Attoor. She has added a brief note on the same book of previous editions and how its well designed latter. She says the importance of this book for a researcher in his research field. Then Dr S Devika, Assistant Professor of NVKSD College of Education, Attoor, welcomed the resource person, dignitaries and participants. The resource person of the programme is Dr. Mariamma Mathew, principal of Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikkara.The resource person Dr. Mariamma Mathew delivers a review of the book Instructional Strategies and Techniques in Science Education. It was published in 2018. It had 270 pages and 20 chapters. These chapters are classified into three major areas. The first 6 chapters are theoretical. It describes the nature, development and scope of science, aims and objectives of teaching science, methods, approaches and techniques of teaching science, practices in teaching and learning, models of teaching in science learning and curriculum in science education.The second part is Pedagogical Aspects. It deals with the 7th chapter to the 12th chapter.It explains to the readers how to apply the strategies or techniques in the classroom. It includes instructional support and resource materials, modern instructional approaches and e-resources, techno-pedagogical content knowledge, planning for instruction, essential requirements for teaching and learning and fundamentals for assessment and evaluation.The last part is Technology Integrated. It deals with
the 13 th chapter to 20 th chapter. It described the weaving ICT and networking in science classrooms, science, technology and society, technology integration, advanced technology and science education. The book mainly focuses on the biological and physical sciences. Then Mrs. Rejee M. K. Nair, Assistant Professor of NVKSD College of Education, delivered the reflection of the presentation. Dr. Neena Thomas, assistant professor of Mar Theophilus Training College and executive member of AIRIO (Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin), made a concluding statement and offered a vote of gratitude.

Book Nook: worlds and worlds is an exclusive online book review platform for readers and academicians to share, discuss and expand their ideas and concepts. It is organized by the Centre for research and development ,Internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) and Library Reader’s forum of N.V.K.S.D. College of Education, Attoor in collaboration with Association of International Researcher’s of Indian Origin (AIRIO) and Council for teacher’s Education Foundation (CTEF) Tamil Nadu and Kerala chapters.
The 6th book review of this series was conducted on 23rd December 2023 .The programme started at 7:30 pm , The speaker of the webinar series was Dr M Lalitha , former Librarian , SCERT. The welcome speech was given by Dr Salini S, Principal of Sree Narayana Gurukripa B.Ed College . Dr. M Lalitha, reviewed the book Reading difficulties Dyslexia : Essential Concepts and Programs for improvement written by Dr J P Das . The audience were mostly academicians ,research scholars ,M.Ed and B.Ed students . The book was first published in 2009 by Sage Publications India Private Limited. The cover page of the book shows an undisputable idea of connecting it with the Indian movie Taare zameen Par. The whole book contains 22 chapters divided into three sections , the first part contains ten chapters relating to the Understanding reading difficulties , next 9 chapters – remediation of reading difficulties and the final part which includes the next steps . Dr . M Lalitha gave an interesting talk on the same and followed by a question discussion and reflection by Dr. Rakhi P Nair , Dean NVKSD college of education. Dr Praveen Kumar gave the vote of thanks. The webinar ended by 8: 30 pm . The webinar was hosted by Adhithi R H (1st yr M.Ed) and Aya Gouri Raj (2nd yearB.Ed)
