CTEF Kerala is a pioneering organisation dedicated to empowering the teacher educators. The awards instituted by CTEF Kerala highlight our commitment to recognising excellence and promoting talent among teacher educator professionals.
We acknowledge the hard work, dedication and passion of teacher educators who make a positive impact in the field of teacher education. Our awards aim to bring to the limelight these unsung heroes who inspire others to follow their footsteps and foster a culture of excellence.
Event Details
The prestigious event is once again ready to honour excellence, brilliance and dedication of teacher education professionals during the 24th Annual Convention of CTEF Kerala and International Conference in collaboration with Council for Educational Administration (CEAM) hosted by Sree Narayana Guru Kripa B.Ed College, Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram during 22, 23, 24 January 2026.
Eligibility
The award is open to all accomplished Teacher Educators from Colleges of Teacher Education, University Departments of Education, SCERT, DIETs and TEIs in Kerala.
Eligibility Requirements
All the applicants must become a member of CTEF (for some awards as mentioned against each category only existing members with a minimum of two years can apply) and actively participate in CTEF activities for applying for an award. Applicants should mention the details of membership in the application.
Annual Convention Registration
Award applicants should register in this year’s Annual Convention before applying the award and pin the receipt with the application.
Award Categories for 2025–26
Prof. (Dr) K Sivadasan Pillai Memorial Award for Academic Excellence
Instituted by CTEF Kerala in reverence to the enduring legacy of a visionary par excellence, the late Prof. Dr. K Sivadasan Pillai. This prestigious award is the only one of its kind where selection is based solely on nomination, making it a truly unique and exclusive honour. The nominee must be a teacher/teacher educator/visionary/thought leader/or champion of education who has made significant contributions to the educational field leaving a lasting impression on the lives of his students and peers alike.
The award comprises of a cash prize of Rs.10000/- and a beautifully crafted citation which highlights the recipient’s remarkable accomplishments in his professional field.
Prof. (Dr) A Sukumaran Nair Memorial National Award for Pedagogic Brilliance
In recognition of the renowned and pioneering teacher late Prof. Dr. A Sukumaran Nair, the Former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, the CTEF Kerala chapter proudly introduces this prestigious Award for Pedagogic Excellence.
The award is to encourage young and creative teaching talents who are typically under 40 years of age. Applicant must be a permanent teacher in a Teacher Education College, University Departments of Education, SCERT, DIETs and TEIs (Govt., Aided or Unaided colleges) and an experience of at least 3 years of teaching.
Also, the applicant must become a life member of CTEF Kerala. This is a National award and hence teacher educators outside Kerala are also eligible to apply provided they become members of their concerned State CTEF Chapters.

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs.10000/- and a beautifully crafted plaque symbolising the outstanding achievement. The amount for this esteemed award is sponsored by the Indian Society for the Advancement of Higher Education (INSOHED), founded in 1996 by Prof. Dr. A Sukumaran Nair himself.
Dr. K Soman Memorial Award for Teacher Educator of the Year
This prestigious award is distributed in reverence to the enduring legacy of Dr. K Soman, a stalwart in the field of teacher education, who spearheaded the Dept. of Education, University of Calicut and mentored teacher educators across the Govt. Colleges of Teacher Education in Kerala.
Every year this prestigious award honours the exceptional contributions of a remarkable senior teacher educator who is still in service either in the Colleges of Teacher Education or in the different Departments of Education in Kerala.
This award has been sponsored by the family members of Dr. K Soman. The award comprises of a cash prize of Rs.5000/-, an artfully composed citation and a certificate.
Award for the Best Administrator of the Year
This prestigious award recognises an exceptional administrator who demonstrates unwavering dedication, visionary leadership and a commitment to excellence in his/her role.
With a minimum of three years of experience in administrative position such as Principal, Head in Govt./Aided/Unaided Colleges of Teacher Education or Departments of Education in any University in Kerala.
This award has been sponsored by Dr. B Suresh, Former Principal of Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram. The award comprises of an exquisitely designed citation and a certificate.
Award for the Inspiring Teacher Educator
This prestigious accolade is reserved for a vibrant young teacher educator who has been a beacon of inspiration, igniting a passion for learning in students.
This award has been sponsored by Dr. Sarat Chandra Raj, Former Chairman CTEF Kerala under the Vijhnan International Foundation. The award comprises of a skilfully created citation and a certificate.
Prof. K. R. Sivadasan Memorial Award for Innovative Researcher in Education
This award is a tribute to the late Prof. Dr. K R Sivadasan, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Kerala.
This award has been sponsored by his family members. The award comprises of an elegantly expressed citation and a certificate.
Award for the Talented Writer in Education
This award aims to recognise and celebrate the writing talents of a teacher/teacher educator who has made a positive impact on education through his words. The applicant should have published at least 3 books on Education (among them at least one should be with ISBN, not edited books).
This award has been sponsored by Prof. (Dr) K Sivarajan, Former Dean of Education, University of Calicut. The award comprises of a carefully crafted citation and a certificate.
Award for the Most Committed Teacher Educator for Extension Work
This prestigious award honours the tireless efforts of a remarkable teacher educator who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a profound impact on the lives of students, colleagues and the community through their extension work.
This award has been sponsored by Dr. T K Mathew, Former Principal of Titus II Teachers College, Thiruvalla. It comprises of a thoughtfully framed citation and a certificate.
Award for the Best Teacher Educator at DIET and SCERT Level
Through this award we honour the remarkable contributions of a faculty who is in service either in the DIET or SCERT Kerala.

Award for the Best Teacher Educator at TEI Level
Through this award we honour the remarkable contributions of a Teacher Educator who is in service either in the TTIs Kerala.
This award has been sponsored by Dr. V M Sasikumar, Patron, CTEF Southzone. The award comprises of a skilfully created citation and a certificate.
Award for the Topper of B.Ed. Examination of the University of Kerala
The award for the topper is bestowed upon the B.Ed. student in a college affiliated to the University of Kerala.
This award is sponsored by Prof. Jacob Mathew, Former Principal, Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram in memory of his parents. The award comprises of a cash prize of Rs.2000/- and a certificate.
Award for the Topper of D.El.Ed. Examination in Thiruvananthapuram District
The award for the topper is bestowed upon the D.El.Ed. student in the DIET or any other ITEs in Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Award for Institutional Excellence
This prestigious award is instituted to honour the remarkable legacy of Dr. N D Joshi, Former Faculty of University of Kerala, who devoted his life to work among the tribes in Kerala.
It recognises Teacher Education institutions that advance in academic excellence, faculty excellence, student development, community engagement, research and innovation, alumni success and institutional management.

Prof. (Dr.) N Vedamani Manuel Memorial Award for Best Paper Presenter

Dr. Sudheesh Memorial Award for Innovative Research Paper Presenter
